Terms of Service

Effective 20 October 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of ChocolateBar (the “Software”), provided by ChocolateBar (“we”, “us”). By downloading, installing, or using the Software, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software.

1. License

Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of the applicable fee, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install and run the Software on Mac computers that you own or control, for your own personal or internal business use. A single purchase covers all Macs owned by the licensed individual.

2. Restrictions

You agree not to:

  • Copy, redistribute, resell, sublicense, rent, or lease the Software.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this limitation.
  • Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices.
  • Use the Software to violate any law or the rights of a third party.
  • Circumvent any license enforcement, update, or anti-tampering mechanism.

3. Purchase, Pricing, and Promo Codes

Payment is processed by Stripe. By completing checkout you authorize Stripe to charge your payment method for the price displayed, plus any applicable taxes. Prices may change at any time, but a change will not affect a purchase already completed. Promo codes (including LAUNCH30) are limited, may be revoked, and cannot be combined unless stated.

4. Refunds

We offer a voluntary 7-day refund window from the date of purchase. To request a refund, reply to your Stripe receipt email or write to [email protected] within 7 days. No questions are required, though a short note about what did not work helps us improve. After a refund is issued your license is revoked: we will stop issuing downloads and reactivations for it, and any continued use of the Software is no longer licensed. This window is in addition to, and does not limit, any statutory cancellation or refund right you have as a consumer under the law of your country.

5. Updates

What updates your license covers depends on what you bought, as recorded against your license.

Licenses bought before version 0.6.0 keep lifetime updates for as long as the Software is actively maintained.

One-year licenses (stated on the pricing page and in your license email) include every version released within one year of purchase. After that year, the version you have installed keeps working, but getting a later version requires a new one-year license, purchased the same way as your first, at chocolatebar.app/#pricing.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature, version, or distribution channel at any time. We are not obligated to provide any specific feature or to support any specific macOS version.

6. System Requirements and Permissions

The Software is a universal binary for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Runs on macOS 12 Monterey through 15 Sequoia · macOS 26 Tahoe support coming soon. It uses the macOS Accessibility API to read and click menu bar items. An optional running-apps row, off by default, lists running apps, one chip per app. You must grant Accessibility permission for the Software to work. You can revoke it anytime in System Settings.

7. Ownership

The Software and all related intellectual property are owned by us and our licensors. These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

8. Third-Party Services

Checkout and receipts are handled by Stripe under their own terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of third-party services.

9. Your Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any right or remedy you have as a consumer that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of your country of residence, including any non-excludable statutory guarantees, warranties, or refund and cancellation rights. The disclaimers and liability limits below apply only to the fullest extent the law allows and never below that floor.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPATIBLE WITH ANY FUTURE VERSION OF MACOS.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUES, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SOFTWARE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SOFTWARE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

12. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Software.

13. Termination

These Terms remain in effect until terminated. Your license terminates automatically if you breach any term, or if your purchase is refunded or charged back. On termination you must stop using the Software and remove all copies. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. You and we agree that the courts of Singapore have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to protect its intellectual property.

15. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above. Material changes will be communicated on this page. Your continued use of the Software after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
